Francesco Galvano

Francesco Galvano is a psychologist and criminologist specialized in behavioral analysis, psychological operations, and the applied study of verbal and nonverbal communication. Since 2000 he has worked in training, business consulting, human resources development, and executive coaching, and has served as instructor for public institutions, private organizations, and international military and law-enforcement bodies.
He holds a University Diploma in Organizational and Management Sciences from the University of Viterbo (2000), a Master’s Degree in Psychology with a focus on sociocultural studies from the University of Trieste (2009), a specialization in Criminology and Forensic Legal Studies from Unipegaso Naples (2016), a specialization in Labor Consulting (2017), and a Master’s Degree in Law from Unipegaso Naples (2022). His theses have addressed the psychology of military operations, biofeedback applied to sport and martial arts, behavioral analysis in the prevention of aggression, and behavioral analysis of social media during the Ukraine–Russia conflict.
His professional path combines clinical-criminological expertise with operational experience in defense and security. He has served as behavioral analyst with the Italian and German armies, as officer responsible for planning and conducting psychological operations in theater, and as director of a behavior-analysis team. He is a NATO-certified instructor at NATO School Oberammergau and at NATO Centers of Excellence in Vicenza, Ankara, and Poland, covering PSYOPS, CIMIC, stability policing, defence against terrorism, and battlefield evidence collection. He has also trained members of the International Police Association and acts as court-appointed technical consultant for the Italian Ministry of Justice. His international missions include Iraq, Lebanon, Afghanistan, and Kosovo.
His research focuses on behavioral analysis in high-stakes settings: speeches of terrorist leaders, false statements, interrogation methodologies and their ethical implications, prevention of aggression and terrorism, airport security applications, cultural variation in nonverbal communication, confirmation bias in judicial decision-making, and the integration of behavioral analysis with AI for the detection of manipulated audiovisual content. He is the originator of the Behavior Analysis Method (B.A.M.), a framework for the systematic reading of verbal and nonverbal channels according to their controllability and reliability, with applications in investigative interviewing, intelligence, risk prevention, and organizational coaching. He currently serves as Head of Department at the Behavior Analysis Team.
He is the author of books including Memorizzato (2014), Verbum Vincet: Communication in Negotiation (2014), Threat Diagnosis (2018), Mental Chess. Eliciting through Strategic Engagement (2023), Flight Plan for Success (2025), and Analisi Multicanale del Comportamento (2026). His work has direct implications for threat assessment, deception detection, information operations, public safety, and the ethical use of behavioral intelligence in real-world environments.
